Twitch DJs Guide for New and Current Members
This guide helps answer common questions about being a Twitch DJs member. Ask in Discord general chat or contact admin if you need help or clarification.
First Joining the Server
Twitch DJs is a large community of DJs that runs raid trains on Twitch. Discord is used to coordinate the trains, and you must be a member of the Discord to participate. It helps to make your Twitch DJs server nickname match your Twitch DJ name under your Discord server profile.
When you first join, agree to the rules in the train rules channel. Once you acknowledge the rules, the Introduce Yourself channel should open. Briefly introduce yourself there and say which genres you want to play. Admin will assign you to the relevant channels and trains.
The official Twitch team is TDJs. You may be invited after spending time with the community and showing regular, consistent support for the trains.
Train Rules
- Start at least 10 minutes before your start time.
- Follower-only chat must be off.
- Subscriber-only chat must be off.
- Verified-only accounts must be off.
- Emote-only chat must be off.
- Do not use starting screens. Have your setup ready before the raid arrives.
- Display the TwitchDJs-specific train logo for events.
- Set your stream title as a TwitchDJs event.
- Try to raid out on time.
- Do not advertise any other raid trains while on a TwitchDJs train, unless the other raid train is also a TwitchDJs event.
- Do not book one-hour slots for other events on either side of a TwitchDJs event, since this can create problems if anything goes wrong.
- Participating in Twitch DJs does not affect your personal obligations to comply with Twitch requirements, including the DJ Program. Twitch DJs is not affiliated with the DJ Program or run by Twitch staff.
All staff and admin are volunteers with real-life and Twitch commitments. Please be respectful.
Train Slot Policy
If you signed up for a raid train and can no longer do your selected slot, remove yourself from the RaidPal slot and post in the train channel as soon as possible. This lets admins and DJs know about the open slot and gives time to fill it or adjust flyers before the train starts.
During Raid Trains
If you are not sure who to raid, ask. Always check RaidPal for your slot time and who is next. Flyers are for promotion and can become outdated when lineups change at short notice.
Arrive early to reduce anxiety for the current DJ. Make yourself known in the channel chat of the DJ before you. Communication is key.
Strike Policy
DJs who sign up for a raid train are required to be online at their chosen time. If you can no longer do your set, communicate in Discord at the earliest opportunity.
- No-show without prior communication and a valid reason: first strike.
- Second no-show: final warning and second strike.
- Third no-show: removal and ban from the server and trains.
Strikes may also apply to poor behavior on the server or on trains, as determined by the Twitch DJs management team.
Tier Structure
New server members are not usually assigned to a tier immediately. Tiers are typically assigned after each train by reviewing hourly viewer-list screenshots from the train. You are not notified of your tier status; you will know you are included if you receive direct-message priority signups for the next train.
Tiers are different for each train. Some smaller or newer trains may not use a tiered process if there are enough slots for all interested DJs. If free slots remain after priority signups, the train link and code are posted in the relevant channel.
Under the current tier structure, support for the trains you want to play on determines priority. For example, on a 90-slot train, Tier 1.0 may include DJs seen in viewer-list screenshots 45 or more times, with lower tier sections following from there.
Trains listed as not on a tier system include Latin Afro Tribal, Blues and Country, Freestyle, Hip Hop RnB, Industrial EBM Darkwave, Jazz and Electro Swing, Lofi Ambient Downtempo, Ladies Only, Vinyl Only, Dubstep Trap, Synth Pop New Wave Italo Disco, and Synth Wave Indie.
Channel and Train Organization
Each train covers specific genres, with descriptions listed in RaidPal. You should follow the Twitch DJs team on RaidPal and state which genres you play when introducing yourself in Discord. If you are unsure whether a genre or sub-genre fits a train, ask.
RaidPal coordinates trains and shows your slot in your local time. Set your time zone when first using RaidPal. Sign in with your Twitch account each time, and use the code included in direct-message train invites. Do not share codes without permission or outside the server.
Each train has its own Discord channel. This is where you find train information, ask for help during the train, and find pinned flyers and logos. Use the correct train logo and a Twitch DJs train title for your stream.
Administration and Roles
- Owner: djbasscrasher.
- Administrators: red names in Discord who help run trains and the team.
- Train coordinators: blue names who assist with running trains.
- Mods: orange names who help with Discord and may help with trains.
- Live event managers: yellow names who help manage real-life events.
- TDJs team members: green names.
- Twitch DJs: purple names for DJs on the server.
Knock Feature
Twitch DJs is happy for team members to use Twitch's Knock collaboration feature if they choose. Knock joins two chats together, combines viewer counts for the stream, and makes it easier to switch between streams.
Personal Information and Bot
By agreeing to the Twitch DJs rules, you consent to viewer-list screenshots during Twitch DJs trains only. These are used for the tiers process and are deleted after that process is complete.
The Twitch DJs bot is currently unavailable. The community will be notified when it becomes available again.
